How to Install Google Chrome on Ubuntu 20.04

Google Chrome has become a popular web browser worldwide, across both desktop and mobile devices. Despite being a proprietary and closed-source software, it is not available from the Ubuntu repository. In this tutorial, we will show you how to install Google Chrome on an Ubuntu operating system.

To start, open a terminal window by searching for 'Terminal' in the applications menu. Once opened, run the following command: `sudo apt update` to update your package list.

Next, use the following command to install the stable version of Google Chrome: `sudo apt install google-chrome-stable`. After installation, you can start using Google Chrome by running the command `google-chrome-stable`.

If you want to install the beta or unstable version of Google Chrome, use the following commands: `sudo apt install google-chrome-beta` or `sudo apt install google-chrome-unstable`, respectively.

To add the Google Chrome repository and signing key, follow these steps:

1. Add the Google Chrome repository by running the command `sudo apt-key adv --keyserver hkp://pool.sks-keyservers.net:80 --recv-keys 7F0CEB10BE11879D43CB20BB38BF5C3DBF480746`.

2. Create a source list file for Google Chrome by running the command `echo 'deb 'trusted=yes' http://dl.google.com/linux/chrome/deb/ stable main' | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/google-chrome.list`.

To save the file in Nano text editor, press Ctrl+O, then press Enter to confirm. Next, copy the following line and paste it into the google-chrome.list file: `sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list.d/google-chrome.list`. Then enter the following command in the terminal to update your package list: `sudo apt update`.

To start Chrome browser from the command line, run: `google-chrome-stable`. Now search Google Chrome from the applications menu.

If you have multiple tabs open in Google Chrome and want them to automatically restore on the next restart, go to Settings -> On startup.
